Chinese recipe)","description":"The flavor of this chilled drunken chicken coupled with the heavy alcoholic content is so intense that it blew me away from the first bite.
You might have been served the drunken chicken rolls during any Chinese banquet that you attended. It is boneless chicken meat rolled up and cut into slices and has a strong alcohol flavor.
The flavor is heavenly, especially if you use dong guai and red dates to prepare the soaking liquid. After the flavor of wine, stock, and herbs absorbed into the meat on the next day, you can anticipate that intense flavor while you take a bite with the accompanying gravy.
Is it complicated to make it? Not really. But it does take time because you need to soak the chicken in the stock and wine concoction overnight.
It is worth the wait for sure!
I spent the last few days fine-tuning this recipe, which I want to share with you the result in this post.
Here is the link to the article, video, and the full text: https://tasteasianfood.com/mystaging/drunken-chicken/
Try this recipe if you want some fresh ideas for your next meal. Best to use it as an appetizer.

The recipe
Ingredients A
2 chicken whole legs, skin-on, deboned
1 tsp (5g) salt
1 tbsp Shaoxing wine
Ingredients B
300ml water
Chicken bones from the deboned legs
8g dong quai (Angelica Sinensis, 当归)
15g ginger, sliced
3 red dates
2 bay leaves
1 star anise
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
10g goji berries
400 ml Shaoxing wine
Others C
Aluminum foil for wrapping the chicken
Container to soak the chicken
Method :
The chicken:
- Debone the whole chicken leg (get the help from the chicken vendor)
- Make a few slits at the thicker part of the chicken legs, then flatten it with the cleaver blade.
- Seasons with salt and wine.
- Marinate for one hour.
- Roll up the chicken legs like a Swiss roll, skin side down, with an aluminum foil. Alternatively, tie up the rolled meat with twine.
- Steam for 25 minutes or until the chicken is cooked.
- Shock the chicken in ice water to stop cooking immediately.
- Remove the foil after the chicken is cold.
To soak the chicken:
- Simmer all the ingredients in B (except goji berries and wine) for thirty minutes. Strain.
- Mix with the wine and goji berries after it is cold.
- Place the liquid and the chicken in a container. Let it steep overnight to absorb the flavor in the refrigerator.
To serve:
- Cut the chicken into 1/4 inch thick. Drizzle some soaking liquid on it and serve cold.

Note: The recipe contains alcohol!

#DrunkenChicken #DrunkenChickenRoll #醉雞 #醉鸡

===========================
Website: https://tasteasianfood.com/mystaging/
https://www.facebook.com/TasteOfAsianFood/
https://twitter.com/KwanKaPang
https://plus.google.com/u/0/115952786059763150760/posts
https://www.instagram.com/kwankapang/","thumbnailUrl":["https://itp.mediavine.com/video-poster/https://thumbnails.scriptwrapper.com/1708/mzayovhzggy8tjmga5mw","https://itp.mediavine.com/video-poster/https://thumbnails.scriptwrapper.com/1708/mzayovhzggy8tjmga5mw","https://itp.mediavine.com/video-poster/https://thumbnails.scriptwrapper.com/1708/mzayovhzggy8tjmga5mw"],"contentUrl":"https://mediavine-res.cloudinary.com/video/upload/pg4sgilo3gbnufofbdny.mp4","duration":"PT317S","uploadDate":"2026-01-23T09:25:46+00:00"},"keywords":"drunken chicken, 醉雞, 醉鸡, drunken chicken roll, recipe for drunken chicken, drunken chicken recipe, Shaoxing drunken chicken, drunken chicken Chinese, how to make drunken chicken, how to cook drunken chicken, drunken chicken marinade, drunken chicken recipe Chinese, what is drunken chicken, drunken chicken soup, drunken chicken needles, Chinese drunken chicken, drunken chicken roll, best drunken chicken recipe","nutrition":{"@type":"NutritionInformation","calories":"70 calories","carbohydrateContent":"2 grams carbohydrates","cholesterolContent":"20 milligrams cholesterol","fatContent":"3 grams fat","fiberContent":"0 grams fiber","proteinContent":"5 grams protein","saturatedFatContent":"1 grams saturated fat","servingSize":"1","sodiumContent":"134 milligrams sodium","sugarContent":"1 grams sugar","transFatContent":"0 grams trans fat","unsaturatedFatContent":"2 grams unsaturated fat"},"aggregateRating":{"@type":"AggregateRating","ratingValue":5,"reviewCount":"4"},"review":[{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Anonymous"},"datePublished":"2023-08-14T11:08:16+00:00","reviewRating":{"@type":"Rating","ratingValue":"5.0","bestRating":"5","worstRating":"1"}},{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Anonymous"},"datePublished":"2020-09-26T12:23:09+00:00","reviewRating":{"@type":"Rating","ratingValue":"5.0","bestRating":"5","worstRating":"1"}},{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Anonymous"},"datePublished":"2020-05-21T03:16:35+00:00","reviewRating":{"@type":"Rating","ratingValue":"5.0","bestRating":"5","worstRating":"1"}},{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Anonymous"},"datePublished":"2020-05-19T05:50:38+00:00","reviewRating":{"@type":"Rating","ratingValue":"5.0","bestRating":"5","worstRating":"1"}}],"url":"https://tasteasianfood.com/mystaging/drunken-chicken/"}

    <img decoding="async" src="https://tasteasianfood.com/mystaging/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/drunken-chicken-thumbnail.jpeg" class="mv-create-image no_pin ggnoads" data-pin-nopin="true" alt="Delicious drunken chicken rolls (Chinese style).
